The aftermath of war has left the once-bustling lands of Everfear in ruins. After five long years of brutal fighting against the advancing Galladian army, the people were left to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. King Hyberger, weakened by the conflict, now hides away in his tower, while the Divine Order of Praea and Pudicium strives to rebuild and defend what is left. However, the sudden withdrawal of the Galladian army and their peaceful surrender has left many questioning what truly happened on the battlefield.
Now, a new power has emerged from the ashes of war, promising law and order under the guise of the Divine-Right of the Church. But as they tighten their grip on the populace, restricting access to magic and burning precious knowledge, their true intentions remain veiled in secrecy. The people of Everfear must tread carefully, for the winds of change bring with them a sense of foreboding. Will the figurehead of the Old World be able to withstand this new regime, or will they crumble under the weight of its control? Only time will tell.
For centuries, society has remained static and unchanging, leaving its inhabitants feeling trapped and complacent. But the recent war against Galladia has sparked a cultural animosity towards outsiders, fueled by the terrifying display of Source magic by the enemy. In response, the Order of Praea and Pudicium has amassed an unprecedented amount of power, calling into question the very authority of the royal family.
King Boris Hyberger and Queen Martinia, along with their four children Elvaria, Raul, Latinia, and Daust, find themselves struggling to maintain control in the face of growing unrest. Though the king holds the official title, it is the cunning and manipulative Midge, the king's mother, who truly wields power behind the throne, carefully orchestrating the complex political machinations of the monarchy. But with the winds of change blowing stronger than ever before, it remains to be seen how long this fragile balance will hold.
The conflict between the authorities has been brewing for years, as both the Church and the monarchy sought to establish their version of order in the realm. However, the recent war against Galladia has brought the tension to a boiling point. With the devastating consequences of magic witnessed during the war, the Order of Praea and Pudicium have gained significant power and influence, as many people turned to them for protection and guidance.
As a result, the Order has managed to establish itself as the dominant force in the land, their armies patrolling the streets and enforcing their strict laws with an iron fist. They have removed the King from power, seeing him as a weak and ineffective leader, and have reduced his authority to little more than a mere figurehead. The Church leaders now hold the real power, making all the important decisions and shaping the future of the realm.
However, this shift in power has not gone unnoticed by the supporters of the monarchy, who have been gathering in secret to plan their resistance. They believe that the Church's strict regulations and enforcement of their own version of morality are stifling and oppressive, and that the King should be reinstated to his rightful position as the ruler of the realm. As the conflict between these two conflicting authorities continues to escalate, the future of the realm hangs in the balance.
As the cultists' influence grows, their twisted ideologies threaten to unravel the very fabric of reality. Their dark magic seeps into every corner of society, corrupting those who are weak or desperate enough to be swayed by their promises of power and immortality. The cultists' reach extends far beyond their own ranks, as they sow seeds of doubt and fear in the hearts of the common people, causing them to question their own beliefs and the institutions that have governed their lives for generations.
As the cultists' power grows, the authorities are forced to confront the reality of the situation. The Church of Praea and Pudicium sends its most powerful warriors to battle the cultists, wielding their own divine magic in a desperate attempt to restore order to the land. The secular authorities, meanwhile, struggle to maintain control as the cultists' influence spreads, undermining their legitimacy and leaving them with few options other than brute force.
But even as the authorities fight to maintain control, they too are forced to grapple with the unsettling realization that the cultists may be onto something. Their twisted ideologies, while repugnant and immoral, seem to tap into something deep and primal within the human psyche, offering a vision of reality that is at once terrifying and alluring. As the conflict rages on, it becomes clear that the stakes are higher than anyone could have imagined, and that the outcome of this struggle will determine the fate of the world itself.
In a world of flux, pocked by chaos, power is up for grabs, ready for the taking by any who seek it. A crumbling monarchy, powerful fascists, and keepers of insurmountable arcane knowledge are only a few of those at play, moving their pawns across the board and creeping towards their goals at any cost necessary.
Amidst this intricate web of power plays, alliances and betrayals, only one thing is certain: the fate of the world hangs in the balance, and the actions of these various factions will shape the future for generations to come. As they maneuver and struggle for supremacy, the people caught in the middle can only hope for a leader or group that will act with their best interests at heart, and guide them towards a better tomorrow.
The Gods, if they exist, remain shrouded in mystery, and their motives are often inscrutable to mere mortals. Some believe that the Gods are frivolous, playing with the lives of their worshippers like pieces on a board. Others see them as benevolent and compassionate, guiding their followers towards enlightenment and salvation. But for most, the Gods are distant and uninvolved, leaving their worshippers to navigate the complexities of life on their own.
Despite this, there are those who claim to have direct communication with the divine. They form cults and sects, preaching their own interpretations of the divine will and gathering followers to their cause. However, many of these self-proclaimed prophets and messiahs are seen as little more than charlatans, preying on the fears and insecurities of their followers to further their own power and influence.
Meanwhile, established religions with their own hierarchies and dogmas continue to vie for dominance, each claiming to hold the true path to enlightenment. Yet, their infighting and bickering only serve to undermine the faith of their followers, leaving many to question whether any of them truly understand the will of the Gods. Only the Churches of Praea and Pudicium have garnered enough power to claim dominion over these lands.
As the Order of Praea and Pudicium tightens their grip on the use of Source magic, the tension between them and those who wield it grows. The power of the arcane is a double-edged sword, capable of great destruction and equally great creation. Some argue that it is the very essence of creation itself, a force that should not be shackled or stifled. Others see it as a tool that should be regulated and controlled, lest it bring about the very destruction it is capable of.
As the Order's control over Source magic becomes more absolute, those who fear their power grows. Secret societies and underground movements dedicated to preserving the arcane arts begin to spring up, their members desperate to keep the ancient knowledge alive.
Meanwhile, rumors of powerful artifacts capable of controlling the Source magic spread like wildfire, attracting the attention of both the Order and those who seek to challenge them. The very fabric of reality itself seems to be at stake, and it remains to be seen whether the people of Everfear will succumb to fear and allow the Order to reign unchecked, or whether they will rise up to claim their own power, before the Source tears their world apart.
Their names call out in the night, from the corner of your mind, in the pit of your despair. They have become familiar to you. The Director. The Transgressor. The Perverter. The Dreamer. The Assimilator. The Harvester. The Devourer. The Forgotten One. Eight Shadows loom.
Whispers of their power and influence can be heard in the shadows, in the darkest recesses of the land where the light of day cannot penetrate. Some say they are ancient beings of immense strength, long forgotten by the world, while others claim they are merely tales spun by madmen and liars. Regardless of the truth, the stories persist, told in hushed tones around campfires and in taverns, spreading like wildfire through the land.
Many believe that the titans have begun to stir, that their awakening is nigh, and that it will bring about a catastrophic change in the world. They are said to be immensely powerful, with abilities that far surpass those of mortals, and their goals are shrouded in mystery. Some believe they seek to rule the world, while others claim they only wish to destroy it.
And yet, even with the rumors swirling around them, the titans remain elusive and enigmatic. It is said that only those fated to face them will ever truly understand their nature and power, and that the price of that knowledge may be too great for any mortal to bear.
August 29th, 1466. The planets will align and the Cycle once again will awake them from their slumber.
When the stars align and the shadows dance,
And the Titans awaken from their ancient trance,
The world will tremble and the earth will shake,
As the Cycle turns and fate awakes.
Six heroes will rise, with hearts of light,
To face the Titans in their ancient might,
But the line between good and evil will blur,
As corruption threatens to obscure.
Their destiny woven in the threads of time,
A battle for the fate of the world will climb,
For the Titans seek to break the world apart,
And the heroes must hold the darkness at bay with their heart.
But beware, for the darkness whispers sweet,
And the heroes' souls it seeks to eat,
For when corruption takes hold, it is hard to resist,
And the heroes may fall, if they cannot persist.
So listen closely to this prophecy of old,
For the awakening of the Titans cannot be controlled,
And the fate of the world teeters on the edge,
As the heroes struggle to keep their pledge.
