Kitschy's Shoppe for Eclectic Curiosities (KSEC) is a horror themed Variety TTRPG show with a rotating cast of players. Each session is intended to be played as an independent one-shot following the many jobs solicited of Kitschy, an esoteric curios dealer. While Kitschy's expertise remains in the collection and resale of eclectic and occult items, their notoriety has garnered them a steady influx of requests and pleas of aid. They have taken it upon themselves to contract this work with you, the investigators, to respond to and resolve claims of paranormal and supernatural activity, regardless whichever world their door may be found in.
KSEC sessions are open to participation by the general public, following a vetting process. If interested, please contact us at Goblin.Forge.DnD@gmail.com or join the Discord to connect with the community of players.
*Each session will be dedicated to a mutual aide fund selected by the players. 100% of funds collected will go to the identified mutual aide.*
Please read through the player engagement guide for rules and restrictions.
Kitschy's Shoppe for Eclectic Curiosities rests at the end of a forgotten road, the last bastion standing amidst a decrepit landscape of crumbling brick and twisted iron. The street is eerily silent, save for the sound of your own footsteps echoing against the cobblestones and the occasional creak of a rusted gate.
Amidst the flickering streetlamps overhead, shadows twist and writhe against the walls, as if battling the very light that struggles to illuminate the darkness. But as you approach the shop's darkened windows, they glow with a faint purple light, both an ominous warning and an irresistible invitation.
As you push the creaky door open, it resounds with a mournful groan, almost as if the shop itself is unwilling to reveal its secrets. The interior is a dimly lit labyrinth of shelves and cabinets, overflowing with bizarre and enigmatic objects. The shelves bow beneath the weight of ancient books bound in cracked leather, antique dolls with soulless eyes, taxidermy creatures captured in unnatural poses, and cryptic artifacts pulsing with eerie energy.
As you venture further into the shop, the ominous darkness seems to close in around you, and the sound of your own breathing becomes magnified. You can hear faint echoes of footsteps, as if someone - or something - is lurking just beyond the edge of vision.
But there is no one to greet you, no sign of Kitschy or anyone else. It's as if the shop has been abandoned, left to molder in the darkness of its own secrets.
As you take tentative steps forward, your eyes flitting nervously from one strange object to the next, the gloom seems to press in closer. The floorboards groan and moan with each stride through the dimly lit aisles until your gaze lands on a mysterious and unsettling object positioned on a pedestal towards the back of the room.
It is a small, black wooden box, intricately carved with twisting vines and strange symbols that seem to writhe and twist in the flickering candlelight.
As you approach the box, you notice that there is a small latch on the side, and your hand moves almost of its own accord to open it. Inside, you see a collection of tiny bones, arranged in a pattern that seems almost too deliberate to be natural.
The bones themselves are of varying sizes and shapes, some curved like claws, others flat and thin like a blade. But what strikes you most is the faint aura of malevolence that seems to emanate from the box. It's as if the bones themselves are cursed, or imbued with some dark power that defies explanation.
You can't help but wonder where these bones came from, and what kind of twisted ritual they were once a part of. As you continue to stare at the box, you become aware of a faint whispering, as if a thousand tiny voices were speaking in hushed tones.
You quickly realize that the sound is coming from the box itself, and you can feel a chill run down your spine. The voices seem to be pleading, or perhaps even begging, for something that you can't quite make out.
The hushed murmur is interrupted by the sound of a door opening somewhere on the other side of the shop. A figure emerges, their face obscured by the deep shadows that fill the room. You can just make out their form, and you see that it is Kitschy, the owner of this strange and eerie place.
They move towards you, their steps heavy and measured, and as they draw closer, you can see their face, a mask of kindness and eccentricity, but also tinged with a hint of something darker, more foreboding.
Kitschy greets you warmly, “Oh, I’ll take that off your hands, it’s quite heavy if you listen too hard. Would you like a cup of tea?”, but you can't help but notice their eyes darting towards a stack of letters on their desk, each one sealed with wax and bearing strange symbols and sigils. After declining their offer, they set the box back upon the pedestal and float over to the head of their desk. They select one of the letters, lifting the seal with a flick of their wrist, and begin to scan it.
Their face takes on a serious, almost grave expression, and you can see the weight of the letter's contents bearing down on them. They look up at you, their lilac hair shining in the dim light, and make a request for your aid.
"It’s as I had expected. There has been a disturbance," Kitschy says, their voice low and measured. "Something unnatural, something dangerous, and I fear that it may require the expertise of someone such as yourself to deal with it."
Welcome to Kitschy's Shoppe for Eclectic Curiosities!

Spending a 9-5 crunching numbers as a data analyst, Shadows of Prophecy has been a passion project going on 3 years of development and numerous setbacks. Timothy came to love TTRPGs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic over Discord where they were able to connect with people all over the map and share their love of developing new bizarre and voice destroying characters. In his spare time, Timothy enjoys baking, biking, and lots and lots of crafting. They have three cats, Wasabi, Cremini, and Cannoli, and we will give you one guess to which one is the *spicy *one!
Player
A born and raised Midwesterner, Dan works in tech by day and moonlights as a gamer, crochet-er, and/or local smart-ass (sometimes all at the same time). Outside of the aforementioned hobbies, Dan enjoys traveling, playing piano, singing, baking, trying new foods, craft cocktails, and doing gay shit. He would like to thank his cats, Cannoli, Cremini, and Wasabi, for their love and support. He wouldn’t be the cat daddy he is today without them.
